Heartfelt Condolence

INSEC expresses its condolences and prays for the eternal peace of the soul of Daman Nath Dhungana, a senior figure in Nepal’s human rights and democracy movement, who passed away at the age of 83 on November 17. INSEC extends its heartfelt condolences to his family. His guidance in Nepal’s parliamentary history, progressive vision for human rights, and role as an architect of the peace process will forever remain in Nepal’s history. Dhungana was concerned that while the primary responsibility of protecting the rights and interests of the people lies with Parliament, Nepal’s Parliament has not been able to effectively uphold this duty.

His role in the peaceful resolution of the decade long armed conflict, along with his contributions to establishing democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, will always be remembered.
