Monitoring human rights situation before election
INSEC regional office, Pokhara monitored the human right situation and overall election situation before local level election, 2017 meeting the concerned stakeholders to know about the preparation of election, relationship between political parties, security challenges, and voter’s education.
The team led by Regional coordinator Shiva Khakurel on April 25, met Chief District Officer Dili Pokharel, DSP Ek Narayan Koirala of DPO, Chief of District Election Office Mahesh Pandey, Bishnu Musjan from NC, UML district secretary Ram Bahadur Chauhan, District Coordinator Maoist Thakur Kumar BK, President of federation of Journalists Him Bahdur GC andChairperson of Women Network Sushila Gaire, to take information about the election and human right situation.
INSEC regional coordinator Shiva Khakurel stated that the INSEC will observe election process in all three phases i.e. before, during and after election to make the local election clean and peaceful. As well as, INSEC as previous will conduct the citizen’s clean election campaign.
Chief District Officer Dilli Pokharel during the program said that, despite all the preparations of election that will be held on May 14 has been postponed by the government. He added that the strategy, voter education, polling station, Office and other election-related issues were already settled however, the government declared to conduct the election on second phase which saddened the entire election team and voters.
