On July 29, 2018, Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) has organized a policy discussion program on the issue of civil society organization related laws in Kathmandu. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate the discussion on CSO related existing laws and policies to identify the gap. The identified issues will be categorized as a policy advocacy/recommendation document for new law and policies from civil society. Besides, the interaction contributes to strengthen the alliance of civil society activists. The program has highlighted that the existing operational bureaucratic structure and their perception is the major challenge for civil society in Nepal. The upcoming law in regard to civil society should clearly mention the unilateral structure to govern civil society with less bureaucratic hurdles and transparent system. The participants expressed that the CSOs are committed to compete for the resources and utilize for the betterment of Nepali society in transparent approach. At the same time, they are expecting the unbiased and rights responsive governance from regulatory authorities. The program was chaired by INSEC chairperson Mr. Subodh Raj Pyakurel.
